Weight Training for Queer, Trans, and Gender Expansive Folx
Founded in 2025 by Salem J Aguas and Kristen Friis-Hansen, we believe every individual deserves to feel strong and confident in their authentic identity: whether they be trans, queer, or beyond the binary. We understand how intimidating the gym environment can be for queer and trans folks. That’s why we offer classes that center community, strength, and authenticity. When you come to a class, we want you to feel comfortable to come as yourself, whatever your gender expression or identity looks like.Thank you to everyone in our community who has helped us get here. We truly couldn’t do it without each and everyone of you.We currently offer classes in the Portland area and are hoping to expand and grow beyond.

Salem J. Aguas (He/Him)
Co-Founder
As a Trans man who's also a person of color, weightlifting has helped him lift a lot of heavy barriers in life. He's been in the gym since he was 15 years old, and can remember the gym atmosphere being very intimidating and oftentimes feeling misrepresented. He created Muscle Mommies in hopes to bridge that gap. The root of it all was Strength, Queer Visibility, and Community. He is very fortunate and grateful to have developed something so accessible and affordable for those in his community.
